THE NEXT BEST THING TOUR! RETURN ENGAGEMENT OF DONNY EDWARDS AND THE FEVER BAND, SUNDANCE HEAD AND DAVID ALLEN!
Saturday, May 21, 2011 from 7:30 PM to 10:30 PM (CDT)
Weatherford, United States
That's right, Donny Edwards is coming BACK to the Texas Opry Theater on
May 21st for a RETURN ENGAGEMENT of a single performance with The Fever Band, David Allen and VERY SPECIAL GUEST American Idol Contestant SUNDANCE HEAD that
promises to be one heck of a rock-n-roll good time.
Donny Edwards is a two-time world champion Elvis Tribute Artist, who has performed on hit television shows such as NBC's "Next Best Thing" and "The Young and the Restless." He has also played with some of Elvis's original band members such as D.J. Fontana, Elvis's drummer; and his back up group the Jordanaires.
"We are going to come through there and bring back the spirit of Elvis, with his persona, and the atmosphere. That's the difference between me and other tribute artists, we are very authentic and even sing in Elvis's original key. And we have a good time doing it," said Edwards.
"I am excited to come to Weatherford, Texas and perform," he said. "The crowds are enthusiastic, and are an all-around fun crowd." He will be backed by the full 8 member band 'Fever' with special guest David Allen performing the Elvis Presley '68 Comeback Special. and SPECIAL GUEST SUNDANCE HEAD from American Idol and son of Super Star Roy Head. Show time is 7:30 p.m. May 21st. For tickets call 817-341-1000.
Sundance Head has been singing for as long as he can remember. The son of singer Roy Head, who scored a #2 smash hit in 1965 with “Treat her Right,” Sundance attributes his love for music to the many times he shared the stage with his father as a child. Sundance is now making his mark on the music industry, determined to hang a gold record of his own on the wall of his Porter, Texas home.
A contestant during season six of American Idol, Sundance finished in 13th place from a field of thousands of contestants. Life following elimination from the competitive reality series has proven sweet, as Sundance became the first American Idol contestant in history to score a recording contract with a major record label, Universal Motown, without finishing in the Top 12. Sundance has since moved from Universal Motown to a new and upcoming independent label where his creativity can be more fully expressed.
Proficient with several instruments, including guitar, bass guitar, and piano, Sundance is also a talented and sought-after songwriter, having written for ZZ Top, among others. With a natural penchant for singing the blues, it is easy to find yourself swept away to another time and place by his powerful voice and lyrics, only to open your eyes and realize that the soulful voice passing through the microphone is that of a young star on the rise.
If you have never experienced Sundance live in concert, you may find him on any given night performing in one of several dozen venues throughout central and east Texas, Louisiana, and elsewhere in the South, or perhaps kicking off a sporting event for one of his favorite sports teams by singing the national anthem. Tour dates are available on his website.
Sundance will release his debut album, comprised of ballads, blues, some surprises, and even a few covers, later this year, but you can check out some of his singles on iTunes and CD Baby if you can’t wait for the full album release. You owe it to yourself to give him a listen!
Don’t forget to add Sundance as a friend on Facebook and MySpace!
